“Beating-Around-the-Bush”

You tell me to openly say what is wrong

You advise me to face the problem head on

Do you not know I know this?

Do you not know I am aware what the problem is?

Some things are just better left unsaid

Some things are better hidden away

You tell me to stop beating around the bush

But confront it head on, face the painful reality

Perhaps it will help me find middle ground!

You tell me it isn’t easy to walk this road

Others have gone down this same path, like you

Dear Sir, I’d rather walk a different path

Not ones full of poisonous ailments,

You told me my emotions are for a purpose

Unfortunately, you felt I was not acknowledging them

I had only wished for some kind of comfort

By openly expressing my fear and grief

Through poetic thoughts and writings

I tell you Sir, I am not beating around the bush

I tell you, I am having a hard time accepting

This pain and heartache I feel

When my loved ones are hurting and sick
