The Bird
What a funny bird the frog are.
When he sit he sit on what he ain't got almost.
When he hop he fly almost.
Now, the turkey is a noble bird.
Destined by Franklin to represent a fledgling nation,
he sacrificed himself to feed the hungry.
Ungainly and awkward in flight,
but truly resplendent with tail feathers spread.
His hen nourishes the young while he forages.
Indeed a noble bird.
The eagle is a symbol, too.
A scavenger of the weak and the young.
Graceful in flight with fearsome talons spread.
A symbol of two nations, former enemies now friends.
Sometimes called the Thunder Bird.
Noble, self sacrificing and fearsome.
