BUBBLING BROOKS AND RAINBOW TROUT
A bubbling brook and rustling leaves Branches waving in gentle breeze Scampering squirrels on fallen trees A land serene lovely and free
Crystal water from mountain flows Into the brook far below Where rainbow and brown trout on currents ride Or find rocks and roots under which to hide
Pine needles and moss cover the ground Wildflowers blossom on fertile mounds Butterflies gliding in warm spring air Bees are buzzing everywhere
Children with rods and baited hook Line the banks of the bubbling brook Silence replaced with shouts of glee Mommy, come quick so you can see
A rainbow trout too hungry to hide Could not pass up that worm of mine Look at this monster on the end of my line Tonight on him we all will dine
Muddy jeans and dripping socks The price we paid for the monster we caught Now he's cooked and we can feast On the monster who was only an 11 inch fish © Mary E Rogers 5/10/2005
