Christmas Moon

Under the Christmas moon
children sleep to awake soon
to hold their Christmas
in their hands.
These are the ones
...blessed in our lands...
There are some who will awake
whose pillows were of rock
and those...they will find
no Christmas sock.
Some in our lands
will seek their holiday meal
from other’s garbage cans.
Feed them now before they are spent
...before this Anniversary
of the Christ Child has come and went.
Under the Christmas moon
the fighting in the sand
goes on in a distant land.
There are those with
weapons in their hands
fighting in the bloody sands
under the Christmas moon.
God...let it end soon
Do not let Christmas morning
find their bodies lifeless and spent.
God...Let it end before another Anniversary
of the Christ Child's birth
has come and went...
