“Do Not Forget, My Warriors”
Warriors that have passed through here
In barren, desolate, or fertile soils
Hunting, fishing, picking berries
For sustenance and covering
Hear the silent echoes in canyon walls
Cries of sorrow for naught
Women, children, n’ elders
Passing from life and death
Prairie grasses whispering in the wind
Speaking the words of the buffalo
Relating wisdom from the eagle
Instructing warriors to never forget
“Always remember your ancestors,
Who have traveled eons before you.
Never forget their stories and lessons
Carry on with respect to self and man.”
