The Fifth of July
Now that the Fourth’s over,
what will you do?
You’ve spent the day honoring
the Red White, and Blue.
Now you'll furl your Flags
and put them neatly away,
packed with your patriotism
until another day
when banners fly
and old soldiers mourn,
filled with memories
that leave them forlorn.
But just as a reminder,
so folks can still tell,
you’ll take a little Flag
and pin it to your lapel.
