For these things I give thanks

Reflecting on the past year,

I find much to be thankful for.

Two precious new children to love,

Both Girls, Danni; petite, lots of dark hair,

A complexion to match, who loves to be held;

Ashley, fair skinned, a radiant smile,

Hints of red in her hair, and an independent spirit.

For their parents so willing to

share them with their Grandma and Grandpa.

For all of the little things in life;

The sky on mornings when the air is crisp,

When nature’s creator paints it with pastel hues.

For the new life in spring and the colors of autumn,

The smell of fresh cut grass and of burning leaves.

For an eagle soaring high above the river;

For the butterflies of summer.

The sparkle of ice in the sunlight

the morning after a winter's storm.

All of these fill my heart with warmth and goodness,

But all of these pale compared to the love I share

With the one gift from God I cherish the most;

The wife of my youth, my life partner, lover, and friend.
