I dedicate this poem to the Warriors of the Kiowa Black Leggings Society, our Veterans.  We will participate in the Ceremony this weekend, May 19 and May 20, 2007.~~Melanie C. Campos

For You T’ow-Kow-Ghat

When our warriors return

We dance and sing the

Honor and Victory songs

Written and sung

Especially for them

Women sound out lulus

Feeling the pride for our

Men who have come home

To the young and old who

Fought for their people

And we do not forget

The Warriors still fighting

In places far, far away

We are T'ow-Kow-Ghat!

We are Kiowa ‘n proud!

Feel the presence of those

Who have passed away?

They are here with us

They dance and sing

They talk to the drum

Feel the rhythmical beat

Speaking to us from their heart

‘Grandfathers, we are continuing

This sacred ceremony in your memory’

‘Grandmothers, we dance with

You in our heart and soul’

To the eagles circling above

You are home!
