Good Night From Calhoun County

Dusk has fallen and the people of Calhoun County are sitting on their front porches enjoying the after rain. You know what the after rain is, that period of time between when the rain has fallen and the real world takes over again. When the world smells fresh and clean for just a few moments. I guess those in the household cleaning business would call it rain fresh or something like that. The people of Calhoun County still like to sit on their front porches of an evening.

Front porches abound here and are always close to the sidewalk, so if someone comes by you can always say howdy to them and they often reply unless it is Doc Williams on his way to attend to some emergency.

The front porch is were lovers in Calhoun County sit as they watch the sun rise or set. There is still a standard for lovers in Calhoun County which some would say is old-fashioned, but works well for Calhoun County.

In Calhoun County no boy would honk his horn and wait for his date to come out to him. Here you go up to the door, and if you’re real smart, you'll have a flower or two in your hand for your date’s mother. You always sit and chat a while with the parents before you go out on your date and are always polite to them.

Here in Calhoun County, the girls are shown respect and are never asked to do anything improper in the slightest.

Of all the counties in the US Calhoun County has the lowest out-of-wedlock birth rate of any of them. Mary Jane XXXX did have a baby out of wedlock but that was only because she was running with someone from Far County. Even then she should of known better and not ruined the perfect record of Calhoun County but her baby looks a lot like her, and the good Christian -  and some of the not so good Christian - folks of Calhoun County are making sure it is well taken care of.

That is not to say things do not get out of hand on occasion, as Billy Bob Watson tried to touch a place on Mary Jane Rife and got a black eye fro his trouble. If’n he's smart, he won't be coming around to visit Mary Jane for a good spell to come.

Well Jim is putting up a new display of Dipsy Doodles so I think I'll go down there and check them out on the way home.
