Granddaughters
Coloring oceans indigo blue
Chocolate chip cookies baking for a time
Painting toy horses a wonderful hue
Eating hard candy both lemon and lime
These are all things my granddaughters do
Buying jawbreakers for a nickel and a dime
They're happy children; the youngest is two
They go to sleep at a quarter past nine
They're up in the morning, ready to play school
Then they play house serving meals so fine
When they play games they make their own rules
They even help grandma hang clothes on the line
Then they play dress-up and pose on a stool
They like water melon but they throw out the rind
They watch channel Disney, they think it's cool
We'll enjoy them now; they'll grow up sometime
