Heart Song! My heart
sleeps, softly dreaming beneath
Creator's skies; overhead, the
stars are waking twinkling a
message to my eyes. Mountains and
mesas surround me, keeping silent watch, deeply black against the
orange and purple of the
luxurious desert sunset. Through the
shifting, golden sands, the Grandfather
winds whisper their secrets; my spirit
listens, quickens: was that a name
they brought? Still, I wait
in quiet prayer, hoping to
someday find love; if I wish upon
the falling star, is there still
a chance for me? The tang of
mesquite fills the air, wild sage adds
to the flavor; this stark
place is one I dearly love. There is so
much of me here. This is the
heart place, of Mother Earth, filled with a
beauty beyond compare; gentle and
deadly, this, my hearts home, desert lands
and mountains that I love. Canyons and
valleys, rocks and sand, la cholla
standing guard; juniper and
chaparral, pinyon and pine, the trees of
the desert, offering their fruit. Trails that run
on forever, caves with dark
secrets, water in
strange places as pure and
sweet as life. This is the
place of wild horses, puma, and
coyote; here, the
ancients call me it is here my
heart belongs. Songs of the
Anazasi vibrate still
upon the air; hidden in these
lost places, their spirits
still roam today. One day, I will
return, answer the
calling of my spirit; it is here,
they say, I will find
that for which my heart yearns. written by:
