Heroes All

On a beach before dawn

Far from freedom's shores

Brave men gathered

Aware of their chores

To fight and conquer

Perhaps even die

Never questioning why

And die some of them did...

All to trump Hitler’s hideous bid

They fell by the thousands

Those who came by land and by air

Those who survived fought long and hard

And finally pulled the winning card

It was D-Day...Beware…

We will forever honor and revere

With thanks of a grateful nation

All those brave men who truly were

...The Greatest Generation...
