His Demons

Missing his smile, his eyes, his love

the passion of his touch

but for him fear, of future things, the memories recall, the demons talk so much

In vivid clarity, each night

they drain him of all trust

between the meds, the false advice, the demons say, all will be lost

Again, just like before

they lie abundantly

replaying all old hurt, the strength there is, the demons will not let him see

The man he really is

I know there's diamond inside

worth more than most, than what he thinks, the demons won't abide

By laws of dignity

just like the rest out there

throwing away, the very best they had, their demons will not let them care

About someone so dear

would never make him choose

between my feelings, dreams of us, and voices keeping him convinced

that love, he'll always lose...
