War is bad and I hate it Garland; I have been there. I have had my body violated by enemy bullets, and I have violated enemy bodies the same way, and others. I have killed my fellow men because it was my job, at the time, to do so. And I did it VERY well. Like you, I also believe that war is bad, and I also hate it. I keep referring to an old adage, "No one prays louder for peace, than the soldier in the foxhole." I would gladly sit in silence, if I could.
Fir many, many years I have not agreed with much that our government has done or is doing. But, neither am I willing to sit by and await the day when some terrorist controlled plane crashes into the school that my grandchildren attend. I, who have never bent my neck or knee to any man’s yoke, would gladly do so if I though it would guarantee the safety of those I love. Unfortunately, history has shown us, time after time ad infinitum, that this is not what happens. Absolute power corrupts, absolutely.
As a citizen of the USA, I have taken an oath, upon my own life, to fight the enemies of this country, those from without and those from within. The terrorist’s attacks on the Twin Towers and the Pentagon senselessly slaughtered thousands of good, peaceful men and women, and left thousands of innocent children, wives, husbands, fathers, mothers, grandparents, and friends mourning lost loved ones. My heart will never be at peace until those who support such atrocities lie dead and no longer able to commit such barbaric acts again.
I will NEVER push for war; I don't now. But, I will demand and see justice done against ANY who dare attack these shores, and/or ANY who dare to support them. I may be banned, in the interest of maintaining peace among the users of a site for speaking out. But, I will STILL maintain your rights or the rights of any other, to speak their mind. Speak your piece, and damn the torpedoes. Just because our opinions differ on some matters, doesn't mean that either of us should bar the other from stating those opinions.
Feel free to slam our government representatives. God knows they have richly deserved it. Just don't slam my country or my Flag. Those few idiots that are currently in charge are not the country, nor its symbol. You and I have as much or more right to that claim than any of them. But, WE are also responsible for either putting them or allowing them to be put it their current positions, and therefore must support them, whether we agree with their choices or not.
They will not be there much longer. And, as always in the past, the next lesser of so many evils that takes the office will have to straighten out the problems left behind. Speak on brother. Just once more, before I die, I would like the privilege of voting for someone that I truly felt could and would do a good job.
