IF JESUS HAD WRITTEN THE BIBLE

If Jesus had written the Bible,

Oh, what truth we all could read,

And we might have been able,

Through his good words to succeed,

But we can still take notice,

Of those few words he said,

And trust the Guardian Angel,

Who stands there by your bed.

Declare not loud your charity,

Nor in public say your prayer,

Pray behind closed doors in secret,

With God quiet moments share.

Give not to gain publicity,

Nor reap from gifts a price,

Else you will cause calamity,

And establish evil vice.

You cannot serve two masters,

So serve with love the Lord,

For disloyalties cause disasters,

And deceit doth hone the sword.

Worry not about your problems,

For worry brings but grief,

And the treasures of your hording,

Will be stolen by a thief.

Build on a rock your passions,

Let truth direct your strides,

Your desire for vogues and fashions,

Let common sense decide.

And if you fail hereafter,

You have only yourself to blame,

So if you hear the Devil’s laughter,

You have missed the bloody train.
