| If only he knew how much
he was honored |
| Wonder if it would have
mattered much |
| A rugged life he went
through; then war |
| Only twenty-three years was all he lived |
| If only he could have
heard his best friend |
| Play a song dedicated to
him at Redstone |
| The bass really was keen
with the drummer |
| Pounding the drums and
the singer singing |
| If only he could’ve seen
the soldiers salute him |
| And heard ‘Taps’ being
played on a shiny bugle |
| He died young and
distraught from his pain |
| Yet, through his history,
he showed strength |
| If only he saw how much
his family loved him |
| And felt those words to
seep into his heart |
| Questions on what
happened in your mind |
| Will remain unanswered
for all of the now |
