In a Dark and Spooky Wood
|
| |
| In a dark and spooky wood on a late
summer eve |
| I discovered things that made
ancient ones in fairy folk to believe. |
| |
| A toadstool white with powdered
spores, |
| A butterfly that might have come
from distant shores. |
| |
| A bright green bug with clear and
lacy wing, |
| The crisp brown shell of a cicada
that went elsewhere to sing. |
| |
| A sheaf of wheat, its seed brought
here from a western alien land, |
| A fuzzy black and brown wooly bear
that inched softly across my hand. |
| |
| These tiny things helped this fairy
princess to believe, |
| As she stood all alone in a dark and
spooky wood on a late summer eve. |
