Omaha Beach Normandy Memorial
In the Wee
Hours of June Sixth There were
Numbers...
Four-hundred thousand...
American... British... and
Canadian There were
Ships...
Five-thousand- three
hundred There were
Airplanes... Eleven
thousand... plus the
320th Anti-aircraft Balloon
Battalion There were
Beaches...
Caen...targeted by the British
Juno...Targeted by the Canadians Utah and
Omaha... Targeted
by the Americans There were
the Times... June
six...nineteen-forty-four At the
morning hour of three ...troops
to landing crafts And before
ten o` clock There were
the causalities Over Three
Thousand lay dead
upon Omaha Beach But
Victory was imminent With
Operation Overlord... Allied
Forces took the beaches at
Normandy And drove back the foe from
Germany. Green grass… and white
crosses Testament
to the losses... occurring
when heroes came from the
air and the sea Remember
in the wee hours of the
morning that
Freedom has never… and will
never...come free… ©6/6/2007
