IT DOES NOT MATTER
Tis seldom that my views are seen to be, Worthy enough for most folks to agree, And that I guess is why I'm all alone, Though loved by folk around my happy home. Tis all my l life I searched with fading hope, To be at peace with those strange other folk, But greater comfort I found in being me, Because compared to them I am truly free. So many hang-ups; concerns and points of view, Competing with themselves in all they do, So much vanity; greed and self made pain, While of good fortune they needlessly complain. The hill I once did struggle long to reach, Is now an insignificant grain upon a beach. 2 Tis when you find you do not need to climb, Nor impress another to satisfy your mind. When you know you are as important as the rest, And it matters not if the self-righteous are impressed. When you know you do not have to run the race, For it matters not who knows not of your face,.. When you know you do not have to state your mind, Describe your achievements lest you be left behind, Impress your peers lest they your faults describe, And hide your origin lest they demean your tribe. No, none of this that distorts all that you say, Is worth one moment that might indeed delay, A simple thought of love to calm your head, For none of it will matter when you're dead.
