The Jewess and the Pope

14 year old Jewish girl

Liberated

can walk no more

Priest came along

brought her a glass of tea

and two slices of bread

she hadn't held a glass

in over 3 years

and was overcome with tears.

Where do you want to go,

he asked?

Krakow, she said.

I, also.

So, get up, and let us go.

She was too weak

so he carried her.

He became the Pope.

He had been her savior and

her friend.

She was there today

to be with him at his journey's end.
