U.S. Army

Death of Viper

You fought long and hard
outnumbered four thousand to one

Six men, six brave shadows fight for life
Mortars explode, bullets and shrapnel tear flesh

Blood everywhere, Each impact sends blood flying
Six men, six men whose life's blood stains the earth

No sounds do you make as for your life you fight
From far away come the sounds of Green Hornets

Radio crackles with life and excitement
Green Hornet 1, Viper-one-zero respond

Words carry thru the terrible raging fight
Viper-one-zero come in, Green Hornet-1 calling

Green Hornet-1, Viper-one Zero here, back-off
Back-off, we're done, no way out, they're all gone

Viper-one-zero, All of them? All of them gone?
Roger that Green Hornet, all gone, I'm all that's left

Viper, Three-Elks and Has Too Many Horses are gone?
Trang and the others, all of them??

Viper, hang on, Hammer is 10 k away and coming hard
Back-off Green Hornet, Hammer won't make it in time

Green Hornet, I'm heading into the void, they'll follow
They'll follow me, bet your ass that they will follow me

Back-off Green Hornet, Tac Air is frying this spot
Back-off brother, back-off we're dead and buried

Sing Old Blue for them tonight Green Hornet, Sing Old Blue
Viper-One-Zero out !!!

Viper? Viper-One-Zero come in, Come in Viper, Come in Viper!
Green Hornet, one last thing, Tell Sara that I'm Sorry!!!

Viper Out !!!!!!!! Viper come in, Viper Acknowledge,
Damn it answer your damn radio; Come in Viper, Come In!!!!

Silence!!!!!!!!!!!!! no response, Viper-Hammer come in!!!
Viper- Hammer here, come in damn-it!!! Silence !!!!!!

Silence so overwhelming that grown men shed tears!!
The sounds of silence, so loud and so final and so deadly.
