Lessons
I have learned the lessons
That were taught to me in steel
And I have learned the price required
That you must pay to feel
I have learned too much they say
Or so I have been told
Perhaps that would explain to some
Why inside I'm so cold
What is it I have done now
With all that I have learned
Surviving in this world where
Too long love still is spurned
In truth I must admit
That yes indeed I'm far from grace
I gave up on the species long ago
Back in that place
Where a message born of reason
We could only teach with steel
And the lesson learned in killing
Was don't ever learn to feel
