Life is Short

Life is short and there is no reason to make it any shorter, thought Marvin Miller as he swept out the inside of the old barn on the west side of Calhoun County. He is going to turn it into the Blues Roadhouse.

Marvin has big plans and is going to have the best Blues people he can find to perform in his roadhouse. He has got his sights on BB King for the grand opening and so far, according to BB's agent, it looks good. The agent tells Marvin that it is down to him and a show at the Coliseum in San Francisco, so Marvin is sure he has the edge.

Marvin has hired Brandy to be his head bartender. You will all remember her from the song Brandy. Well it's not the same Brandy from the song, but ever since Brandy heard the song she has told everyone it was about her when she was a bit younger and a bit more "spirited."

Marvin told me to ask all of you to drop by and have a cold one, or maybe two or three. If any of you get a bit too "happy," Marvin will make sure you get home safely and don't have any accidents. He has a deal with Shoe McGrew at the Calhoun County Taxi Service. As long as he's not on duty, Shoe gets a free drink for every time he drives a tipsy person home. I don't think Marvin has thought about the fact that Shoe is ALWAYS on duty, but maybe he'll figure it out.

The Blue's Roadhouse is all about fun, and Marvin would hate to find out that one of his customers had too much fun, and they would never be back again. "Life is short," Marvin says, as he thinks about the love he has recently lost to a drunken driver, "and there is no reason to make it any shorter."
