| The
Men in the Red Cape |
| |
| I used to look up to
these men |
| Standing so stoic
with strength |
| Thinking how brave
they were |
| As they fought in
wars at length |
| |
| There is a sense
about them |
| That made me realize
today |
| How some may look
strong |
| Yet there’s a
fragility they convey |
| |
| Underneath the
bright, red cape |
| Their shoulders that
held pride |
| Had been ready to
represent home |
| Yet carries sadness
deep inside |
| |
| The history of where
they’ve been |
| From a rugged
childhood and youth |
| To keep surviving
against the odds |
| That has been added
to life’s truth |
| |
| I’ve realized that I
stand in awe |
| Of these brave men
with torn souls |
| They are an elite
Warrior Society |
| Leaders first; with
protecting goals |
