Morning's Solitude

The world slowly begins its day
Darkness is pushed back by morning light
Birds are calling hello from the trees
They seem hesitant to take flight
A cool breeze drifts peacefully by
The dew has yet to leave the grass
The leaves wave a cheery good morning
As the branches hold them tightly fast
The clouds move swiftly out of sight
The sun appears like magic in the sky
Morning's peace is suddenly shattered
Fully awakened the birds begin to fly
Peace is swallowed up by demands
Instantly the world is transformed
Survival looms in front of us
We like the birds are forced to move on
Morning lingers in my memory
And the peaceful beginnings of each new day
As I unwillingly leave this solitude
I wonder if Heaven may be this way
