My Dear

Where in my thoughts could I best store your grace?

Tis full enough my mind with your sweet face,

And overflowing with the beauty of your smile,

Which gains my attention for a lingering while.

You also crowd my heart with love's delight,

For love is what we share as lovers might.

Yet, in sharing it’s left some places free,

Where my mind and heart can through my blindness see;

To mark where age has our youth’s beauty waned,

Though still our love is in our hearts retained,

For love is not a blossom the seasons fade,

It grows an evergreen for a lifetime made,

By time that ends our lives when death is due,

When your sweet grace will find a storage new.
