My Old Heap
My car misses,
blows blue smoke.
My car has dents,
paint is a joke.
Radio sometimes works,
as does the defroster.
Speakers crackle hiss,
heater ain’t no blaster.
Tires are almost fair,
gone are the shocks.
Missing some lug nuts,
broken door locks.
Air conditioner used to work,
so I am told.
Broken power steering,
brakes won’t hold.
Love the old heap,
even with its flaws.
Might be time,
to give it to the Mother-in-law.
