       War is a distant
                past

       memory is not
               so distant

       Some memories
                forever last

       When the last soldier
           is left standing

       remembering each
            and every face

       constant company
              in his space

       will the battle
           be stilled

       along
          with the echoes

       of artillery
            sounding

       beyond
             memory’s hills

       Will the battle
           be over
