On the Road with Nightshirt Armadillo
Folks ‘tis time again For me to hit the road As I libel enemy and friend As a shill for Squatty the toad I endeavor to distort the truth Bend facts to my own purpose Call myself a reporter Another clown in the circus County meeting and floodwater I haven’t a care Treat it with laughter Recount how I got there Respect not the flag Lest you create a fuss Donated cash in a bag Lost on the late night bus Remember our vets Restore the monument halfway Then call off all bets Pay the company today Slander those who do good Misquote them next To my ego more food I don’t need a text My imagination is full speed Not a care in the world I ride Don Quixote’s steed As my insults are hurled My years make me great A legend in my own mind Care not for the election slate All the same you will find Let the hospital pay less Taxpayer expense I find a bore That’s normal I would guess Guarantee the reserve bond more When credit could be shared Bobby and Jeff never agree To politics nothing has compared Their tirades fill me with glee Another trip down memory lane I give you my prater My opinion inane For it really doesn’t matter © Fred Baker
