Peaceful Thoughts and Cool Dreams
Peaceful thoughts and cool dreams
What wondrous things this sound brings
Neither wonders nor worry in which to dwell
Always a really good story to share and to tell.
Peaceful thoughts and cool dreams
No more fitful nights no more horrid screams
Remembering things that were so when you were a kid
Under the watchful eye of parents and friends those things you did.
Peaceful thoughts and cool dreams, ah but then the truth
Then comes the day of no more sheltered youth
Seems like a twinkling of an eye
One is asked to fight, run or die.
Peaceful thoughts and cool dreams
No place for them here it seems.
Either a muddy jungle or dry arid sand
Only your buddy to give you a hand.
Peaceful thoughts and cool dreams; heck, who knew?
If you’re lucky and see it through
Just a remembrance of times gone by
Of young men and women who were forced to fight or die.
Peaceful thoughts and cool dreams
How I had forgotten those very things.
When upon reflection it comes to me
One must try and forget and let the dead be.
