The Politician

We see some through majestic eyes

Whose empathetic shell

Disguises how they really lie

As they ring their selfless bell

Some grant a fleeting glance

Of what they are really made

Should you see by chance

How they made the grade

So often you see the fluff

Not the true deceit

You think they are made of stuff

Of one you’d like to meet

Senescing those who are the like

A gut feeling you know well

Avoid them before they strike

And catch you in their swell

This lesson is learned more often

During election time

When campaigns likely soften

The questioning normal mind
