Ray Charles 1930~2004
REFUGE
Remembering Ray Charles September 23 1930 ~ June 10 2004
A man who triumphed over blindness and won...even over physical addiction ...a great example of courage and soul In his music...he truly excelled his goal
Brown fingers caressing ivory keys Oh, what a celebration were these How very thrilling was the sight... and to the heart...a sweet delight
Who will ever forget the sound of 'America...The Beautiful' sung in the rain...sung to us of his land...the land... of his happiness...and his pain
The singer has gone on...and left all behind… but each time is heard...'Georgia On My Mind' … there are thousands...who will remember him Goodbye Mr. Charles...long shall your name not dim...

A Great Man Passes
Some singers could put a song in your heart. Ray Charles could make your whole mind, spirit, and body sing. Some singers got the beat and could feel the music. Ray Charles gave you the beat and poured the music into you. Ray stayed young in heart, because he didn't see people get old. When Ray pounded on the piano, those notes and chords would set up a vibration that traveled across the floor and up into your feet. Today, I think, is "the day the music died." © Karen Rice
