THE ROAD THAT LEADS HOME
There's a familiar country road That always takes me home A place of warmth and love No matter where I roam
Lined with trees and wildflowers A road so crooked and wide A place so dear to my heart In the beautiful countryside
No place on earth is so precious Than where I grew up as a child And even when I'm far away The memories reach through the miles
There's another road that leads home A place so perfect and sweet I haven't yet finished my journey But I long to walk on it's streets
This road is so straight and narrow But I sometimes get lost on my way There's a book of directions to follow And there's help along the way
My home here on Earth is temporary Someday it will pass away But the home at the end of my journey Will be there forever to stay
It's streets are paved with gold It's mansions so bright and fair And someday at the end of my journey I'll travel through the air
Yes, Heaven is my destination I feel like I've traveled so long Someday Jesus will come for me And I'll hear the angels song
The eastern sky will split open My savior will appear in the sky He'll lift me up in the air And home with him I will fly
