Shuckin’ and Jivin’

Lord, I’m weary and just a little dismayed, sometimes even puzzled by what I see…Maybe the problem lies with me. Even after all these years, expecting people to mean what they say…

But so many use words like verbal makeup - just another device to make the old persona seem better than it is...a little linguistic eyeliner and rhetorical rouge to cover up the blemishes, while in the background, The Temptations can be heard softly singing, “Rap on, Rapper, rap on...”

Promises made, promises broken, promises implied and left unspoken. Another sort of lie.

And I have to wonder at the sycophants who never look past the façade, who doggedly believe that mole really is a beauty spot. Are they more to be pitied than scorned?

Ah, well, as time goes on and the road narrows, are such things even worth the time that's spent in contemplation? Maybe, in the timeworn Nam phrase, it really don’t mean nothin’. At least, not anything worth bothering about.

On second thought, maybe that’s more cynicism than dismay. Just idle thoughts on another crappy day…
