Simmering
Got a big nagging ol’ pain From all the scars on my brainThoughts of my time in hell Just makes me want to yell
Can’t undo what’s been done Wishing I could say we won Thought we were doing right Never got to show our might
Lifetime spent wondering why So many of us went and had to die Oh so many families ripped apart Moms and Dads living with an aching heart
A welcome home that wasn’t right Coming back in the middle of the night No brass band no ticker tape parade Returning home was just a cruel charade
