I sit here watching the snow fall through
the window and think of you.
It is not often that big fluffy flakes fall
from the sky covering things with a layer of soft whiteness but when it
does it bring back memories of you and the time we had together.
There are many things that remind me of
you:
The smell of fresh coffee in the morning
The softness of a kitten’s fur
A wild flower in the field
The warmth of a fire on a cold winter’s day
Yet nothing reminds me of you as much as
the full fluffy flakes of snow that are falling outside my window right
now
Perhaps it is because it was those big
fluffy flakes that were falling when I first met you.
They were falling around us when I first
held you in my arms and felt your warmth creep into me
Perhaps it is because they were falling
when I first knew of your love for me and that it would never end
Perhaps it is because, though I have not
seen nor talked to you in years, I feel a closeness to you when it snows
those big fluffy flakes as though you are watching it also and knowing I
am close to you in spirit.
Soon spring will come and the snow, as it
must, will go away. The big fluffy flakes will turn to the soft gentle
rains and then the heat of summer will be upon us.
In my mind, though, I will be able to look
out the window and see the snow falling, think of you and pray you are
thinking of me
