SOLDIERS ARE SACRIFICED

Soldiers are sacrificed by politicians,

They don’t do it for themselves,

They fight like Hell to stay alive,

Not to become history on someone’ s shelves

But it appeals to people when it is said,

By those who sent them there,

That they were brave who sacrificed,

Their lives for the good and fair.

It fills the gap left by the “why?”

And unites the common urge,

Of patriotic need to believe the lie,

Lest they their government purge.

Who say the things folk want to hear,

Lest they let the truth emerge.
