Some Thoughts
19 MAY 03 NATIONAL LEADER
Look how your arrogance fails to earn respect, That oft behind ill fear doth hide its face, Where local folk whose opinions you reject Rise up in shame to confirm thy state’s disgrace. Protect thee then from all except yourselves, As great nations by such error tend to do. By foul deceit and arrogance to implode, To be the end of power and end of you. For when great leaders do become so great, Tis oft their warriors vanish from their eyes, That lost respect determines their ill fate, That all their dreams of greatness with it die. For the great are only great who truthful be, To those whose thoughts choose to disagree.
19 MAY 03 NARROW THOUGHTS
If I had lived my life with narrow thoughts, That questioned not what others would have me think, What would I speak if not my own retorts? Would I not from my own experience shrink? Am I not told the way that life is seen By other folk who would their way endorse, That even though tis different where I've been, From all those things they say I must divorce? Why is it that one must think a certain way, Due to direction by a biased creed, That nothing that is different that I say, Can be accepted lest it is agreed, That what is taught is power over mind, Lest truth with clear thinking one will find?
19 MAY 03 TRUTH?
That all folk die is truth without debate, And that we're born is obvious to relate, That time exists between one and the other, Falseness cannot with any effort smother. Yet, where there's space in momentary time, Some do use the knowledge of decline, To influence thought as a means of power, To control one’s actions each and every hour. None of it, is less than state of mind, There is no truth or evidence to find, But when one fears what he cannot know, He's eager to believe that it is so… And so, we live a dream that gives us hope, That based upon its falseness we do cope.
19 MAY 03 DEBATE
What is debate, except to teach us calm? When anger overflows before regret, Devises shame for we did not mean harm, Though harm we meant when the rage was set. Are not opinions statements without facts, Biased to the side which we like best, Which soon submits mid our angry acts To terminate debate with friendly jest? It's all a bit like pissing in the breeze, Or pissing in the sea to fill it up, In the end, well, everyone agrees, The facts revealed would not fill a cup. Yet we are so quiet when a man who knows, Speaks the truth to those who are his foes.
19 MAY 03 WHAT CAN I SAY
What can I say when you my words resist, That your beliefs apposing insist, Except bid silence (as my thoughtful friend), To greet your passions as they thus attend? Were I less honest in writing what I do, 'T’would be my pleasure to entertain your view, But I'm not so narrow yet in current thought, To accept as truth such a fine resort, Thus must pursue what I do feel and see, Dismissing that which is not revealed to me, By those who say an absence here exists, That all other thought is accordingly dismissed. For what is true lives not in the eyes of Priests, But where deceit has in their hearts increased.
21 MAY 03 GOVERNMENT
Let us spread confusion through the land, Lest the strength of truth people understand, And form from it a power fine and strong, Steadfast in it's faith to do no wrong! For a nation can’t survive on simple truth, Tis like religion: it can’t supply the proof, Of what it says to justify it's acts. For where is truth without the real facts? Would we be leaders if the truth were known? Would not this 'freedom' soon be overgrown? For truth and power are opposites in time, Where one succeeds the other will decline. Then let us keep the dream alive with lies, Lest sweet truth causes it to die.
21 MAY 03 CIRCUMSTANCE
Circumstance doth mark the roads we stroll, Where barefoot or well shod life takes its toll. With poorer pocket oft we travel slow, Where richer influence wears ambitious toe. And where we’re seen to lack in our defence, We are so ridiculed at our shame’s expense. For subject to our times and circumstance, We are the victims or yet achieve by chance, A status based on what we are and who, According to those favoured ignorant few. The underprivileged less privileges receive, And form the basis of the rich man’s greed, Who without the poor, they gratefully deceive, Cannot survive, thus without them cant succeed.
