Spring’s Gift
Spring is here once again With all its exhilarating hues; I feel a gentle, uplifting swell As flagging hopes renew.
In spite of all the irksome bumps On the wearying road of life, Somehow, when the roses bloom, I can deal with strife.
Though it may last but a week or so, This welcome feeling of relief, I’m able to shake the pall of blues That's been such a cunning thief
Of all the ordinary joys That the good life contains; I can ignore today's sorrows, So that only peace remains.
I’m always full of gratitude When the birds begin to sing, Ushering in the warming days And the renewing gifts of Spring.
