SUCH IS LIFE
Each generation the previous one doth fault, To justify the purpose of their role, The old horse envious of the vibrant colt, Forgetful of its actions as a foal. And all who in the limelight make their way, Become the reasons for man’s basic flaws, For freedom gives the humblest folk a say, But of their own ill defects it ignores. Most of the crewmen want to rule the ship, But few a Captain could ever be, Thus they are quick to see the anchor slip, Lest it be dampened in another's sea. Ah! How we think we are without defect, We who in our envy so object.
