That First Easter

In the streets and each alleyway

There are rumors flying today

They are talking in every doorway

The news is reaching near and far

Spreading like a wildfire

The One who preached forgiveness

That had angered them so

Has been crucified and laid low

And as He died

His Mother stood and cried

They took His lifeless shell

And laid It in a tomb away

With a stone they sealed It well

He had promised to rise

And save us from Hell

'Tis now the third day

Listen to what they say..

“The stone is rolled away...

The stone IS rolled away...”

The tomb is empty

Bow your head and pray

Hallelujah...Hallelujah...

He is risen today…
