THE QUESTION

My son came home from school one day

and posed a simple query:

Would we hide our Jewish friends

from Hitler's wartime fury?

I answered:

Yes, of course, we would,

what else could we do?

But later on, I thought:

I wonder if that's true.

I like to think in spite of fear

I'd just do what was right...

and I've often thought about this

on a dark and quiet night.
