The Silence

I have heard a silence,

That still speaks in words too deep

And I have heard a silence

That I know I'll always keep

I have heard a silence

Such a sad and woeful sound

Of too many lost tomorrow's

Found upon the battle ground

I have heard a silence,

That still echoes in the sky

A question never answered,

When all we asked was `why'?

In those days so full of anger

As we stood there all alone

I remember still the silence

When your hearts were made of stone
