Those Faded Shadows
On the brightest of all the sunny days These old eyes see nothing but faded shadows Seems like the horrors of my lost youth Are preventing me from seeing in sharp contrast Hard to understand why it went so wrong These old eyes see nothing but faded shadows Got to keep on a searching for that brightest light Mile after long mile to find that rewarding smile
Faded shadows fill my days and nights Faded shadows just running up and down Faded shadows all lying on the ground Faded shadows are not my final reward
I've watched the good the bad all come and go These old eyes see nothing but faded shadows Like a big old oak tree twisting in the wind Forever reaching for that light to spread its leaves When I try to think of what can only save me These old eyes see nothing but faded shadows There comes that time when one has to ask Please shine on me bright light from above
