Those ‘Sixties
Coca-Cola…hula-hoops Keepin’ up on all the scoops Me and Walter Cronkite... we paid our dues at the Six O’clock News... sittin’ there every night havin’ to talk of JFK...dead in Dallas... shot in the broad daylight... and Bobby...lyin’ in blood in L.A. Martin Luther King assassinated…dead Black and white riots...a terrible sight I watched it all... Cryin’ as the eulogies were read …heard Of Woodstock and music and drugs Creedence Clearwater Revival Singin’ loud and proud… Flower Power in San Fran… Preachin’ love if you asked...and… then robbin’ each other of their stash Volunteers and draftees... Trainin’ for jungle survival but no warnin’ of napalm in the breeze Just dodge the bullets…please ...and away they went smellin’ of Jade East…and Old Spice a nostalgic scent... really nice Patriots...yahoos and hippies... Oh...I sure remember the sixties... and bloody Vietnam…and body counts Kent State killin's... and campus riots Cult leaders and political taunts …heard Of Woodstock and music and drugs more Vietnam...and more body counts... Lord...more body counts I still like to listen to CCR and Cola-cola... it’s still good As for the Sixties... ...some of them still say... that some of it didn’t mean nothin’
but dear God...it should...it should...
