Tolling The Bell

We cannot ring Freedom's Bell
without for some.. sounding a death knell
..and we are caught forever under its spell

Oh.. for a better way to secure it than war
Though in all of history there never was before
..and to the soldier always falls the chore

Down through all the ages
wars have been fought..
and recorded on dusty pages

The reason of each war
was thought to make
things better than before

I cringe ..I shudder and fear
when again I heard its tones
loudly ringing in my ear

Alas.. I fear that for profit..

man uses war as his gain..
doing it all in Freedoms name
