Understanding a Friend

Having friends and people about whom you care

Sometimes is hard and may cause you despair

For all people are different this is true

Keeping different mindsets alike may be more than one can do.

One never knows when something seemingly innocent

And done with the best of intent

May cause a friend to judge your effort with haste

And miss the true act of friendship upon which it was based.

To communicate and understand the very nature of the act

Is a true virtue when the cards against you seem to be stacked.

For if any friendship is worth the effort it may take

Then one must realize that each of us is going to make some mistakes.

So if friendship is worth anything at all

It’s worth a little understanding and love to those large and small.

So if you feel offended or misunderstood

Maybe make an effort to forgive and look for a friend’s good.
