Vampire

Dawn comes slowly

With old memories

Refusing to go

All night

Until daylight

Faces linger aglow

Friends alike and foe

The smell of carbide

Spooky’s midnight ride

All in my mind still abide

Seems like yesterday

Will never go away

It only sleeps in the light of day

Resting and regrouping

Ready for the nightly wounding

Unrelenting….Unheeding…
