Vietnam Vet Blues

Hey, Uncle Sam, you really lied to us.
We took your oath and jumped on the bus.
Some walked.
Some flew.
Some never got up.
We all shed some blood.
We all shared the cup.

We all flew away, long time ago,
But we never came back.
Country was burning
No bra on her rack.
Tricky Dick and Nam blew away,
Even Hoover was gay.
Now China's our friend
CEO's always got paid.

Days never ended.
Alert always high.
Gung Ho! Don’t forget Semper Fi.
Heads and heart’s all broken.
Things ain't right.
Play the game.
File a claim.
It's just not the same.
End the chapter. Close the book!
Don't want to see! Don't want to look!

Got stoned.
Got drunk.
Told the bosses, "Screw You!"
Fell down the stairs.
Hid from everyone's view.
Some sucked the gun.
Others ate pills.
We're mad as the Hatter.
But it don't really matter.

Someone's at the door,
Quick, sneak a little peek.
If it's a bro,
Open up and meet.
Heard the rumor? Someone cares?
Damn, that's rare.
A long time ago,
We all flew away.
Like to comeback,
At least for one day.
