Why Do You Haunt Me?

Why do they haunt me you ghosts of old?

I have told you so many times I am sorry.

I ask you, it was war, what else could I do?

You do not answer, only look at me with your grin.

I don’t understand, you would have killed me!

Why do you disturb the peace of my sleep?

Why must I kill you over and over?

Why?  Your blood and suffering already stains my soul.

Please find peace so I can find mind.
